WEC 2017 | 24 Hours of Le Mans, Preview

For the people who missed out on the test-day last weekend, above some footage from the cars. So what will this year Le Mans have for us ? Well Audi left the scene at the end of last year. And so every medical car, etc. are now from BMW. (BMW will make there entrance again next year in the GT class). But besides that Porsche has now 2 cars, instead of 3, and Toyota has 3 cars. In total there are 6 cars in LMP1, By Kolles again with 1 car. And 25 cars in LMP2. Among those LMP2 cars is one team: Valliante Rebellion, with the no. 13 and 31 cars (incl. the comic logo). The Panis/Barthez formation is back in different colours. Manor now has 2 cars in the race, with amongst there drivers Petrov en Vergne. And there is o'course Racing Team Nederland, who are driving in the ELS besides the 24 Hours of Le Mans. During the test it became known that Tockwith Motorsport will drive with a Gulf-Livery. ARC Bratislava is a team to look out for, with the livery they have. Also a yellow car but with color stripes along the back bodywork.

And then there are 29 GT cars. 13 in the GTE Pro and 16 in the GTE Am. Ford is back with again 4 cars. Corvette with the standard 2 cars, and the 3rd Chevy' : The Labre Competition has been turned into an art-car with a different livery (which is also an Z06 instead of a C7R). Clearwater racing will have 2 cars this year. Instead of just 1 like last year. The chrome-car livery does wonders on the track it seems. I didn't thought that Krohn Racing was back, but the livery is still there with a different team-name: DH Racing. Gulf Racing is also on track with a Porsche 911 RSR

So any special/interesting names on the grid ? Porsche and Toyota have there typical names. By Kolles would feature Kubica, but he has withdrawn himself. Rebellion also have there default drivers: Piquet Jr, Prost Jr, Bruno Senna among them. Racing Team Nederland has for this race a 3rd driver: Barrichello. H.P. Tung is driving for Jackie Chan DC this year. There is a new dutch guy in LMP2: R Breukers, driving for the ARC Bratislava formation. DiGrassi chose a Ferrari for this year. The no. 68 Ford would feature Bourdais, but his crash in Indy 500 put him on the side line. Kanaan will replace him in the 68. His Indycar partner Dixon will be in the 69. Fisichella is no longer with AF Corse but with Risi Competition. Vanthoor will be in the JMW Ferrari. Lamy has found his spot in the Aston Martin, as well as Lauda Jr.

So the weekend of the 17th will be a nice weekend. There will be 5 Dutch drivers on the grid. It also means that perhaps the Review of F1 Canada will be a bit later then usual (perhaps). If you would like the spotter-guid download this official file.
