Formula One | 2014 Season Preview

The 2014 season has finally started with season testing in Jerez. Every car has been displayed more or less. Some already in real life others only on published pictures / drawings. Some drivers have changed teams, as talked about at the end of the 2013 season. The first day of testing this year, showed us that there really is a major change going on for this year in regulations and cars. Ferrari seems to have everything in place the best. They already had a bunch of laps and had the fastest test-time. Others that were out on track are: Hamilton (Mercedes), Bottas (Williams), Perez (Sahara Force India), Vergne (Scuderia Toro Rosso), Gutierrez (Sauber), Vettel (Red Bull) and 'rookie' Ericsson (Caterham). The last 2 drivers had only 1 or 2 laps to complete, without a time. Yes indeed, Red Bull had a problem. But McLaren did as well. And the front wing/nose of the new Mercedes went from the car and therefor Hamilton went of the track.

So the new engine, electronics, aero package, chasis, etc. Are really making it harder for the drivers this year (till this point). Hopefully for the teams and the drivers the testing phase will be enough to straighten out any errors. Because if it goes wrong in testing it could be that it won't turn around during the season (or too late). The cars are pretty again. Altough some noses are really awfull. Personally I like (design) the Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull. The rest is more or less some understanding of the lower-nose-rule, but is basicly the same nose a bit lower and then some kind of extra (real) nose attached to it. Some are already called ant-eater, etc. But maybe this will all change when other teams find out that one particular nose is doing really great on track.
