Review | I Am Alive
This title was one of Ubisoft's main things on an E3 couple of years back. It was for free during last month for Xbox Live Gold owners. So I dove into it, the result ? Mixed !
So I didn't play this game when it first came out 4 years ago. When it was first announced it was one of the first Survival games. Has that been the whole problem with this game perhaps ? I don't know. I know that the final product is nowhere near the teased game. It is your average apolypse game if you play it now. And there is more and better stuff on the market. It does has some 'new-ish' features to it. All be it that they aren't that new at all. We have already seen these things happen in other games. The whole aspect of Stamina and Health being your key-survival limits is just awfull for the game. The Stamina especially, because you need it for basicly everything. And the game doesn't give stuff for free. So the way towards an item is exausting and the reward is little.
So does this make me play the game only for a few hours, and then toss it into the air ? Unfortanately not, I get sucked back in every now and then. And as an arcade-title it has his moments. The world itself is well designed, altough it is: walk from A towards B, and don't you dare to wander off in the distance. The story is very thin and not clear at all. IGN gave this back then a 4.5 out of 10. The IGN community gave it a 7.0 out of 10. Gamespot gave it weird enough an 8 out of 10.
